Kurdistan Region Seeks Enhanced Cooperation with Iran Following New Consul Appointment

The Minister of Foreign Relations for Iraq's Kurdistan Region, Safeen Dizayee, has called for increased bilateral cooperation with Iran, expressing optimism that this objective will be achieved during the tenure of Iran’s newly appointed Consul General in Erbil, Faramarz Asadi.

Iran (IMNA) - In a meeting on Sunday, Asadi presented his credentials to Dizayee, who was joined by Shaker Hussein, the director of relations between the Kurdistan Region and Iran. During this initial encounter, Dizayee congratulated Asadi on his appointment and extended best wishes for his success in the role.

Dizayee reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region's commitment to fostering enhanced cooperation and coordination with Iran, emphasizing that such efforts would bolster bilateral relations and expand trade exchanges to benefit both parties.

Consul General Asadi expressed his contentment with his new position in Erbil and shared his hope for improved relations and collaboration during his time in office. The officials also took the opportunity to discuss the historical ties that exist between the Kurdistan Region and Iran.
