Iran (IMNA_ This statement was made during a meeting with Pakistani counterpart Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar in Cairo, held on the sidelines of the D-8 countries meeting.
Araghchi highlighted the escalating tensions in the region, attributing them to what he described as the "Zionist regime's aggression." He stated, "Unfortunately, with the continued all-out support of the United States and some Western countries, we are witnessing that the aggressor regime of Israel is destroying Syria's defense and economic infrastructure and continuing its crimes in Gaza and Lebanon."
In reference to a recent joint statement from the guarantor countries of the Astana process and several Arab nations in support of Syria's sovereignty, Araghchi expressed widespread concern over Syria's current situation. He remarked, "We are witnessing an American and Zionist plot to divide and weaken Islamic countries in favor of the Zionist regime."
The Iranian Foreign Minister also cautioned against the resurgence of ISIL terrorism in the region. In response, Ishaq Dar pointed to recent discussions at the ECO meeting in Iran's Mashhad, expressing optimism that these agreements would enhance cooperation among regional countries.
Dar reiterated Pakistan's firm stance on current regional developments, condemning Israeli aggression and advocating for increased collaboration among Islamic nations to support Palestine, Lebanon, and Syria. Both ministers underscored the critical nature of regional developments, particularly Israeli actions in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria, emphasizing the need for unified efforts among major Islamic countries during the Cairo D-8 meeting to safeguard regional interests.
