Iran (IMNA) - Speaking at a conference in Tehran on Sunday, Salami reflected on the past, stating that Syrians enjoyed a dignified life during Iran's presence in the country.
He likened foreign powers igniting conflict in Syria to "hungry wolves hunting down a lone deer in the desert," emphasizing the dire situation faced by the Syrian people amid escalating tensions. Salami noted that the residents of Damascus now recognize the importance of resistance fighters, stating, "People in Damascus now understand how valuable the men of the resistance are when they are there."
Salami clarified that Iran's involvement in Syria was not aimed at territorial annexation or self-serving interests but rather to uphold the dignity of Muslims. He remarked, "We went there to prevent the dignity of Muslims from being destroyed," highlighting the chaos that ensued following the Syrian government's fall.
He issued a warning to Israel, asserting that it should not take pleasure in changes within the Syrian government, as "The Zionists will pay a heavy price." Salami underscored that this lesson is part of a broader understanding gained from past conflicts.
Recalling Martyr Qassem Soleimani, former commander of the IRGC Quds Force, Salami encouraged Muslim youth to view Soleimani as a role model in resisting oppression. He concluded with a vow to defend Iran's security and sovereignty against external threats.
