Iran (IMNA) - Speaking during a parliamentary session on Thursday, Qalibaf highlighted that this commitment is both a national and religious obligation.
His remarks came in the wake of a speech by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, which Qalibaf described as providing "divine guidance" during challenging times. He noted that the Supreme Leader's words transformed "wandering and intellectual anxiety into serenity and hope," offering a clear vision for Iran's future.
Qalibaf expressed gratitude for having a Supreme Leader and reiterated the importance of adhering to Khamenei's directives, warning that straying from these guidelines would be an "unforgivable mistake" amid current regional tensions. He underscored the necessity for global awareness of hegemonic powers, stating that it is vital for nations to recognize their proximity to "dens of wolves."
The speaker declared that Iran would continue to support resistance movements in the region, echoing Khomeini’s legacy as a champion against tyranny and colonialism. He asserted that this support is essential for ensuring Iran’s security and generating power, particularly in light of ongoing conflicts in Syria and Lebanon.
Qalibaf acknowledged the challenges posed by the potential fall of Bashar al-Assad's government in Syria but expressed confidence that groups like Hezbollah would adapt and strengthen their resolve. He criticized the Syrian government for not heeding Iran's warnings about external threats, suggesting that timely action could have prevented the current turmoil.
Looking ahead, Qalibaf stated that Iran would make strategic decisions regarding its relationship with Syria based on the actions of armed opposition groups. He expressed hope that the Syrian people would recognize their plight and work towards restoring national dignity amidst ongoing crises.
