Iran, Russia Reaffirm Support for Syria Amid Escalating Conflict

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov engaged in a telephone conversation on Saturday to address significant regional and international issues, particularly the recent turmoil in Syria.

Iran (IMNA) - During their discussion, both ministers expressed unwavering support for Syria's national sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing the importance of backing the Syrian government and military in their fight against terrorist groups amid escalating violence in the region.

The two officials underscored the necessity of pursuing resolutions within the framework of the Astana Process, which includes coordination between Iran, Russia, and Turkey as guarantors of the initiative. They highlighted the international community's responsibility in combating terrorism, with Araghchi characterizing recent terrorist activities in Syria as part of a broader plot orchestrated by Israel and the United States aimed at destabilizing the West Asian region.

In light of these developments, both ministers called for enhanced vigilance and collaboration among Iran, Russia, and neighboring countries to thwart what they described as a dangerous conspiracy against Syria.
