Iran Urges UN Security Council to Impose Sanctions on Israel

Iran has officially called on the United Nations Security Council to implement effective and comprehensive sanctions against Israel in response to its ongoing military actions in the West Asia region.

Iran (IMNA) - During a UN meeting in The Hague on Monday, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Legal and International Affairs, Kazem Gharibabadi, emphasized the need for immediate punitive measures under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, which mandates action against threats to peace.

Gharibabadi criticized the Security Council for its inaction regarding Israel's actions, particularly highlighting the deteriorating situation in the Palestinian territories. He stated, "The Security Council has, due to the United States unconditioned support for the Israeli regime, failed to stop the Zionist regime’s war machine," asserting that such support makes the U.S. complicit in the atrocities committed by Israel.

He urged all governments to cease any economic, military, and arms cooperation with Israel and warned that continued restraint in addressing Israel's provocations could escalate tensions in the region. Gharibabadi remarked, "Such provocations and savagery should not weaken our collective will to stop the regime," calling for a re-establishment of the rule of law and justice regarding Israel's actions.
