Iran (IMNA) - Pezeshkian expressed Iran's commitment to deepening relations with Syria across various fields, stating, "The Islamic Republic of Iran is interested in developing and deepening relations with the friendly and brotherly Syria" .
He remarked that had Islamic countries been united, the "Zionist regime would not have been able to commit crimes against Islamic countries as it has done so far," reiterating that Iran's support for its allies will not waver. Pezeshkian highlighted the importance of cooperation among Islamic nations, asserting that such unity can lead to progress and excellence for all Muslims.
The President noted the significance of increasing exchanges between officials of both countries and stressed that these interactions are crucial for expanding cooperation. He added that strengthening ties among Islamic nations could counteract conspiracies from adversaries, including the United States and Israel, aimed at undermining regional interests.
For his part, Foreign Minister al-Sabbagh acknowledged the growing relations between Iran and Syria, expressing gratitude for Iran's support during shared challenges, particularly against what he described as an American-Zionist agenda to alter geopolitical borders in the region. He underscored that resistance remains the most effective strategy against these plans.
Al-Sabbagh also reaffirmed President Bashar al-Assad's commitment to the resistance movement, dismissing attempts to separate Syria from the Axis of Resistance as futile. He expressed Syria's interest in enhancing diplomatic coordination and economic cooperation with Iran as a means to mitigate U.S. sanctions affecting both nations.
