Iran Celebrates 32nd National Book Week with New Libraries and a Focus on "Reading for Empathy"

The 32nd National Book Week in Iran, running from November 13 to 20, is themed "Reading for Empathy." This annual event aims to promote literature as a means of understanding diverse cultures and enhancing the appreciation of storytelling.

Iran (IMNA) - Iranian literature, rich in cultural and historical significance, provides profound insights into the nation's unique traditions and social issues. It allows readers to grasp the complexities of Iranian society and its values. The literary heritage includes celebrated poets like Rumi and Hafez, alongside contemporary novelists whose works showcase the beauty of the Persian language.

The emotional depth and universal themes found in Iranian literature resonate with readers worldwide, fostering connections across cultures. With a growing interest in global literature, translations of Iranian works are increasingly accessible, linking readers to a broader literary community.

In conjunction with Book Week, the Iran Public Libraries Foundation has announced the opening of several new public libraries across the country. This initiative aims to enhance community engagement and access to knowledge. Mohammad Reza Harati, Deputy for Library Development and Promotion of Reading, emphasized the role of libraries as essential learning centers during a press conference in Tehran on Monday. While the inauguration of public libraries is a year-round priority, this week will see the opening of 25 additional libraries, expanding library space by 12,500 square meters nationwide.
