Iran (IMNA) - Iran's Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, has declared that the country is prepared to engage in negotiations based on its national interests and undeniable rights, but firmly stated that it will not negotiate under pressure or intimidation. This statement comes following his meeting with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) chief Rafael Grossi on Thursday morning, where they had "important and straightforward talks," as noted by Araghchi on his X account.
As a committed member of the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), Araghchi emphasized Iran's ongoing full cooperation with the IAEA, asserting that "differences can be resolved through cooperation and dialogue." He expressed optimism about moving forward with "courage and good will." The Iranian diplomat reiterated that Iran has consistently remained at the negotiation table regarding its peaceful nuclear program.
Araghchi highlighted that the "ball is in the EU/E3 court," reinforcing Iran's willingness to negotiate while making it clear that such discussions cannot occur under coercive circumstances. Grossi arrived in Tehran on Wednesday night and was greeted by Behrouz Kamalvandi, spokesperson for the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), before holding talks with Araghchi on Thursday. The national Iranian television broadcasted images of Grossi's arrival, marking a significant moment in ongoing diplomatic efforts related to Iran's nuclear activities.
