Iran Hosts European Motorcyclists as Peace Ambassadors

Iran is currently hosting a group of 16 European motorcyclists, referred to as “international peace ambassadors,” in an event showcasing the country's security and hospitality. Their journey, which began on October 12 and will conclude on October 21, includes participants from Spain, Italy, and Port

Iran (IMNA) - The motorcyclists entered Iran from the Turkish border as part of a transcontinental tour from Italy to Kathmandu, Nepal. Shojaei highlighted that this visit aligns with the UN Tourism’s 2024 theme of “Tourism and Peace,” emphasizing Iran’s peaceful environment.

Since their arrival, the group has visited several cities including Urmia, Marivan, Uramanat Takht, Paveh, and Kermanshah. They are set to continue their journey through Lorestan and Doroud before heading to Markazi province, where they will make stops in Khansar and Isfahan. A formal reception was held in Isfahan’s Naqsh-e Jahan Square to honor the visitors.

After Isfahan, the tourists will travel to Kerman and Bam before exiting Iran via the Taftan border into Pakistan. Shojaei noted that the 12,000-kilometer journey aims to promote global peace while showcasing Iran’s safety and welcoming atmosphere.

“In today’s climate, when certain media outlets project an image of insecurity in Iran, this event sends a clear message: Iran is a safe destination for international tourists,” he stated. He further emphasized that the motorcyclists serve as goodwill ambassadors, helping to dispel misconceptions about safety in Iran.

Earlier this month, tourism minister Seyyed Reza Salehi-Amiri called for efforts to change global perceptions of Iran, stating that “we must break the lock of Iranophobia.” He reiterated that while Iran is secure, some Western media perpetuate a narrative of insecurity.

The Islamic Republic aims to capitalize on its rich array of tourist attractions—including bazaars, museums, mosques, and UNESCO World Heritage sites—as it seeks to enhance its appeal as a tourist destination.
