Iran's UN Ambassador Rejects Israeli Accusations of Violating International Law

Iran's ambassador to the United Nations has firmly rejected Israel's allegations that Tehran has violated international law and the United Nations Charter, asserting that Iran is prepared to defend its sovereignty against any aggression from the Israeli regime.

Iran (IMNA) - In a statement reported by Press TV, Amir Saeid Iravani emphasized that while Iran does not seek war, it is fully ready to protect its territorial integrity against any hostile actions. He criticized Israel as a regime notorious for its persistent violations of international law, stating that it lacks the moral authority to accuse other nations.

Iravani made these remarks in a letter addressed to the UN Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council on Thursday. He called on the international community to recognize the double standards in addressing issues of sovereignty and aggression.

The Iranian ambassador's comments come amid heightened tensions in the region, as Iran continues to advocate for peace and stability while condemning what it describes as the aggressive actions of Israel.

“I am writing to you in response to the unfounded accusations made by the representative of the Israeli regime in the letter dated 8 October 2024 (S/2024/721), which falsely claims that the Islamic Republic of Iran has violated international law and the United Nations Charter,” Iravani said.

“In the letter, the representative of the terrorist and occupying regime of Israel, as always, resorts to false narratives, disinformation, and blatant lies to deflect attention from the regime’s ongoing genocide and war crimes against the people of Palestine and Lebanon and to invert the roles of culprit and victim,” he wrote.

“Yet, the truth starkly contrasts these fabrications, and the undeniable facts speak for themselves,” he added.
