Iran, France Address Escalating Israeli Aggression in Lebanon Amid Humanitarian Crisis

Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot engaged in a phone conversation to address the escalating Israeli aggression against Lebanon.

Iran (IMNA) - During the discussion, Araghchi emphasized the urgent need to halt Israeli attacks and remove barriers hindering international humanitarian aid to refugees affected by the ongoing crisis in Lebanon.

The Iranian diplomat expressed concerns over potential new provocations by Israel in the region, as the country continues its military operations against both Lebanon and the Gaza Strip. Since launching a significant offensive on Gaza on October 7 last year, Israel's actions have intensified, resulting in a dire humanitarian situation in Lebanon. According to the Lebanese health ministry, the death toll from Israeli assaults has reached 2,350.

In a separate conversation with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, Araghchi warned of severe repercussions if Israel were to take aggressive actions against Iran. He asserted that Iran stands ready to respond decisively to any Israeli provocations, reiterating that responsibility for regional instability lies with Israel and its primary ally, the United States.

On October 1, Iran retaliated with a missile attack against Israel, dubbed Operation True Promise II, in response to what it termed Israel's brutal actions in Palestine and Lebanon. Iranian officials have cautioned that any further attacks from Israel would provoke more destructive countermeasures from Iran.
