36th International Film Festival for Children and Youth Concludes in Isfahan

The 36th edition of the International Film Festival for Children and Youth concluded in Isfahan, Iran, on Thursday, celebrating the achievements of winners across various categories.

Iran (IMNA) - The Golden Butterfly for Best Film was awarded to "The Dog Thief," directed by Chilean filmmaker Vinko Tomicic, according to ISNA. This joint production from Bolivia, Chile, Mexico, Ecuador, France, and Italy tells the story of Martin, a shoeshine boy in La Paz who decides to steal the dog of his best client, a lonely tailor he imagines as his father.

The Golden Butterfly for Best Director went to Goran Radovanovic from Serbia for his anti-war film "The Erl-King," which explores the impact of NATO bombings on a child's perception of the world.

The cast of "O'PENing: 2:15," directed by Jung Se-Ryeong from South Korea, received awards for Best Actor and Actress, while the film also won Best Screenplay for Park Yeon-Ok. The narrative follows Hyun Soo as she befriends Min Ha, a girl trapped in her home, leading to a poignant day at the playground that profoundly affects their lives.

Additionally, Iranian director Mansour Vosouqi's film "Barren" received the Special Jury Award in the international section. The Special Jury Award from the International Center of Films for Children and Young People (CIFEJ) went to "My Wild Friend" by Anna Kurbatova from Russia. This film depicts the friendship between a lonely seventh-grader in Moscow and a little fox he rescues.

In the national section, the Golden Butterfly for Best Film was awarded to "Kianoush's Garden," directed by Reza Keshavarz Haddad. The film intertwines unexpected adventures on a wedding day with the crash of an Iraqi bomber plane.

Arash Moayyerian received the Best Director award for "Bamboulak," which features a protagonist striving to fulfill a girl's wish for a sibling against her parents' wishes.

In the animation category, Farzad and Kianoush Dalvand won Best Director for "The Gools," while "Woolina and the No Birds," co-directed by Hossein Saffarzadegan and Meisam Hosseini, was named Best Animated Movie. The Special Jury Award in this section was given to "Summer of the Same Year" by Mahmoud Kalari.

This year's festival received 176 submissions from 48 countries and aims to promote peace, tolerance, moral values, and hope among children and young adults.
