Ayatollah Khamenei Grants Clemency to Nearly 3,000 Convicts

The Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has agreed to pardon and commute the sentences of approximately 3,000 convicts in honor of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (S) and Imam Jafar Sadiq (AS).

Iran (IMNA) - On Friday, Ayatollah Khamenei approved a request from Iran's Judiciary Chief Hojjatoleslam Mohseni Ejei to grant clemency to around 2,887 eligible inmates convicted by various courts, including common pleas courts, Islamic Revolution tribunals, and the Judicial Organization of the Armed Forces.

This act of clemency coincides with the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), who was born on the 17th day of the lunar calendar month of Rabi-ul-Awwal in 570 CE. This year, the celebration falls on Saturday.

The pardons reflect a tradition where Ayatollah Khamenei often issues clemency during significant Islamic festivities.
