President Pezeshkian Visits Iraqi Kurdistan, Meets with Regional Leaders

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian arrived in Erbil, the capital of the Iraqi Kurdistan region, on Thursday morning to hold talks with local officials.

Iran (IMNA) - This visit is part of Pezeshkian's first official trip abroad since taking office, at the invitation of Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' Al Sudani.

During his stay in Baghdad, Pezeshkian held meetings with top Iraqi officials, including President Abdul Latif Rashid and Prime Minister Al Sudani. The Iranian president is also scheduled to visit Sulaymaniyeh, another major Kurdish city in northern Iraq.

Pezeshkian's itinerary includes a trip to Erbil at the official invitation of Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani, where he will engage in discussions with Kurdish authorities. This visit to the Iraqi Kurdistan region comes as part of Pezeshkian's broader three-day trip to Iraq, his first foreign destination since assuming the presidency in July.
