Iran (IMNA) - The Russian Foreign Ministry described the meeting of BRICS leaders as an ideal setting for this agreement, noting that its realization depends on the internal actions of both countries.
The Ministry emphasized that there are no political obstacles hindering the signing of the agreement between Russia and Iran. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is scheduled to visit Russia in October to attend the BRICS summit in Kazan, where he will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, confirmed Pezeshkian's participation, stating, "I believe he will participate in the BRICS summit in Kazan. We are currently preparing for this visit so that it will be useful and successful for our bilateral relations." Jalali added that the agenda includes a meeting with Putin, discussions with other leaders, engagements with the Iranian community, and a speech at the summit.
Russia assumed the BRICS presidency on January 1, 2024, and will host the summit in Kazan from October 22 to 24, 2024. This summit marks the first gathering of BRICS countries following the group's expansion to include new members such as Iran, which joined on January 1, 2024.
