Iran's new president vows to confront sanctions, strengthen regional relations

In a statement to reporters on Tuesday, Iran's newly elected President Masoud Pezeshkian signaled that his administration would prioritize the removal of illegal sanctions imposed on the country.

Iran (IMNA) - Speaking during the introduction ceremony of Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Pezeshkian condemned the "cruel actions" of enemies against Iran and emphasized that his government would adhere to its commitments.

Pezeshkian emphasized that his administration would focus on strengthening and expanding relations with neighboring countries, which he believes would render sanctions ineffective. The Iranian president stressed that his government's priorities are guided by the policies of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, which aim to establish ties with other countries based on honor, wisdom, and in Iran's best interests.

Noting that Iran has always sought to avoid war and establish peace, Pezeshkian emphasized that his government will not tolerate oppression. The remarks by the new president come as the country continues to face international pressure and economic sanctions over its nuclear program and regional influence.
