Iran Vows to Retaliate Against Israeli "Terrorism" After Assassination of Hamas Leader

In a stern warning, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has promised that the Islamic Republic will respond "definitively and well-calculated" to the Israeli attack that killed Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. Araghchi made the statement on social media, following a phone conversation with his Italian counterpart, Antonio Tajani.

Iran (IMNA) - "Iran's reaction to the Israeli terrorist attack in Tehran is definitive and will be measured & well-calculated," Araghchi emphasized. "We don't fear escalation, yet we don't seek it—unlike Israel."

The assassination of Haniyeh, which took place on July 31, was condemned by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) as a "designed and implemented" attack by the Israeli regime, supported by the US government. The IRGC described Haniyeh as a "martyr" and vowed to take action against the perpetrators.

Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei also weighed in, saying that the Israeli regime has "prepared the ground for harsh punishment" for itself by killing Haniyeh. High-ranking Iranian officials have pledged to give a "proper response" to the Zionist regime.

Araghchi's statement suggests that Iran is prepared to take a measured but decisive response to the Israeli attack, which has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation in the Islamic Republic.
