Iran Vows to Punish Israel for Assassination of Hamas Leader, Eyes Surprise Response

In a statement issued by Iran's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, the country has outlined its plan to respond to the Israeli regime's assassination of former Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.

Iran (IMNA) - The Islamic Republic aims to punish the aggressor for terror and violation of its national sovereignty, while also strengthening its deterrence power and bringing the Israeli regime's deep remorse to prevent any future aggression.

According to the statement, Iran's response will have two clear objectives: first, to punish the aggressor, and second, to demonstrate the country's deterrence power. The mission emphasized that the response should avoid a possible negative impact on a potential ceasefire in Gaza.

The statement also hinted that Iran's response may be unexpected, citing the possibility of a surprise attack from both the ground and air. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has accused the Israeli regime and its American backers of orchestrating the assassination.

High-ranking Iranian officials have vowed to give a proper response to the Israeli regime, with Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei warning that the regime has prepared the ground for harsh punishment. Earlier in August, political adviser to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Rear Admiral Ali Shamkhani stated that preparations have been made to severely punish the Israeli regime, which only understands the language of force.

The Israeli regime has been accused of seeking war and making ceasefire negotiations fail by assassinating Ismail Haniyeh and targeting worshippers at the Al-Tabin school in Gaza.
