Iran Slams US, UK for Dark History of Interference, Coup-Making, and Military Interventions

In a scathing rebuke, Iran's Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani has accused the United States and the United Kingdom of a long history of interference in other countries' affairs, including their role in the 1953 coup that toppled Iran's democratically-elected government.

Iran (IMNA) - Speaking on his social media account, Kanaani called the US and UK's actions "slavery, colonialism, coups, and military interventions in other countries" as part of their "dark and shameful history" of interference in the world.

Kanaani specifically highlighted the US and UK's role in the 28 Mordad Coup d'état, which overthrew the government of Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh on August 19, 1953. The coup was instigated by the two Western powers to serve their own interests in Iran, including Britain's oil interests.

The Iranian spokesman also criticized the US and UK for their current support for the "fake and racist Israeli regime" and the ongoing genocide in Gaza, despite their self-proclaimed status as champions of democracy and human rights.
