Iranian President Warns of Global Instability Amid US Pressure, Gaza Crisis

A high-level diplomatic call between the Iranian President and the President of the European Council Charles Michel took place amidst the ongoing crisis in Gaza, where nearly 40,000 Palestinians have been killed and over 92,000 injured in the Israeli aggression.

Iran (IMNA) - The Iranian President emphasized the importance of promoting a multipolar system in the world, warning that US policies aimed at exerting pressure on countries like Iran and depriving them of their rights and interests will harm global stability and peace.

The Iranian President also stressed the need for mutual confidence and interests as prerequisites to a possible deal to revive the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) nuclear agreement. The negotiations to restore the JCPOA began in April 2021, but Iran has criticized the lack of will on the side of the US and the E3 to revive the deal, leading to a ramp-up of Iran's nuclear activities in response.

In a separate development, the European Council's Michel expressed hope that Iran and the European Union will resume effective interaction based on common interests and the removal of obstacles in the way of enhanced relations. He also called for the observance of humanitarian rights, cessation of Israeli attacks, establishment of a ceasefire, dispatch of aid to the people of Gaza, and recognition of an independent Palestinian state.

The crisis in Gaza continues to escalate, with nearly 40,000 Palestinians killed and over 92,000 injured since the Israeli regime launched an all-out invasion in response to Operation Al-Aqsa Storm in October last year. The international community is increasingly calling for an end to the violence and a resolution to the conflict.
