Iran (IMNA) - Smotrich had stated that blocking humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip is "justified and moral" even if it causes two million civilians to die of hunger. The Iranian spokesperson described the Israeli regime's actions as "heinous and horrific" and called for "decisive and deterrent action" to force Israel to comply with international law.
The Iranian government has also accused the Israeli regime of committing genocide and mass killings of Palestinian women, children, and innocent civilians in the Gaza Strip over the past 10 months. Kan'ani urged the European Union to fulfill its "international, moral, and humanitarian responsibilities" towards Israel and end its political and military support for the regime.
The EU's foreign policy chief, Josep Borrell, and German Foreign Ministry spokesman, Sebastian Fischer, have also condemned Smotrich's remarks, describing them as "war crimes" and "completely unacceptable and outrageous."
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the French Foreign Ministry expressed outrage over the recent remarks by Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, who justified the killing of two million Palestinians through deliberate starvation. The statement condemned Smotrich's comments, echoing similar denunciations from other international leaders.
The statement comes as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict continues to escalate, with at least 39,699 Palestinians, mostly children and women, having been killed and 91,722 people wounded in the war that Israel began on October 7, 2023. The conflict has been marked by a near-total siege on the Gaza Strip, which has drastically reduced the flow of essential goods such as food, medicine, electricity, and water into the territory.
