Iran Slams Europe's Silence on Haniyeh Assassination, Threatens to Create Deterrence Against Israel

Iran's interim Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani has condemned the silence of European countries on the assassination of Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, calling it "suspicious". Haniyeh was martyred in an attack on July 31, along with his bodyguard, while attending the swearing-in ceremony of Iran's newly-elected President.

Iran (IMNA) - In a telephone conversation with Slovenia's Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon, Bagheri Kani expressed surprise and concern over the lack of condemnation from European countries and the United Nations Security Council on Israel's acts of aggression against Iran, Lebanon, and Yemen. He also criticized the failure of European countries to condemn the killing of Hamas politburo head.

Iran has vowed to use its legitimate right to defend its security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and to create deterrence against Israel's aggression in the region. The country's leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, has warned that Israel should await a "harsh response" for Haniyeh's assassination.

The conversation between Bagheri Kani and Fajon also touched on the situation in Gaza, where Israel has been waging a war against Palestinian resistance groups for over 300 days. Iran accused Israel of using sophisticated weapons to target civilian facilities and massacre women and children.

Fajon condemned any violation of international law and called for restraint in order to protect West Asia's stability. She also expressed support for a ceasefire in Gaza within a certain time framework and emphasized the importance of Iran's role in the region.

Iran's Foreign Minister has warned that the country will not hesitate to exercise its right to self-defense and create deterrence against Israel's aggression. The situation remains tense in the region, with many countries watching closely for any further developments.
