Iran (IMNA) - The ship, named "Pearl G", was flying the flag of Togo and owned by an Iraqi individual residing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The vessel was reportedly caught loading smuggled fuel from Iranian barges near the Arash Oilfield in the north of the Persian Gulf on Friday morning, July 26.
Preliminary estimates suggest that the ship was carrying at least 700,000 liters of smuggled oil, according to the IRGC Navy. The oil tanker and its nine Indian crew members were taken into custody and transferred to Imam Khomeini (RA) port, where investigations are ongoing.
The seizure is a significant blow to illegal oil smuggling operations in the region and a testament to the IRGC's effectiveness in combating such activities.
