Putin set to meet Iran's new President at October's BRICS summit

In a significant diplomatic move, Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to meet with his Iranian counterpart, Masoud Pezeshkian, at a BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia in October.

Iran (IMNA) - According to Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov, the Iranian side has received an invitation and Putin is preparing for the meeting.

The news comes as Pezeshkian's presidency was officially endorsed by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in a ceremony on Sunday. The swearing-in ceremony of Pezeshkian is scheduled to take place in the Iranian parliament on July 30.

The meeting between Putin and Pezeshkian is expected to be a significant development in the relationship between Russia and Iran, with both countries having strengthened their ties in recent years. The BRICS summit in Kazan is likely to provide a platform for the two leaders to discuss a range of issues, including regional security and economic cooperation.
