ASEAN Foreign Ministers Condemn Israeli Attacks on Gaza Civilians, Demand Ceasefire and Humanitarian Aid

The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) has strongly condemned Israel's attacks on Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, calling for an immediate ceasefire and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the besieged territory.

Iran (IMNA) - In a joint statement issued following a summit in Vientiane, Laos, ASEAN foreign ministers expressed their deep concern over the devastating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of at least 39,258 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and injured over 90,500 others.

The bloc's foreign ministers condemned all attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, and urged all relevant parties to accept the United Nations Security Council resolution calling for an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

They also reiterated their support for the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) and called on ASEAN member states to continue providing assistance to Gaza.

The statement emphasized the need for rapid, safe, unimpeded, and sustained humanitarian access to all those in need through increased capacity at border crossings, including by sea.

Israel launched its devastating war on Gaza on October 7 in response to Hamas' surprise Operation Al-Aqsa Storm against the occupying entity. The Tel Aviv regime has failed to abide by UN ceasefire resolutions and has not complied with the International Court of Justice's ruling to cease its genocidal actions in Gaza.
