IRGC Navy Intercepts Smuggler's Tanker, Seizes 1.5 Million Liters of Fuel in Persian Gulf

In a major operation, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Navy has seized a tanker carrying a massive quantity of smuggled fuel in the Persian Gulf, off the coast of Bushehr, Iran.

Iran (IMNA) - The vessel, flying the flag of Togo, was intercepted on Monday and found to be transporting over 1.5 million liters of illegally smuggled fuel.

The IRGC Navy, utilizing advanced detection tools, had been monitoring the tanker's movements and apprehended all 12 crew members, comprising nationals from India and Sri Lanka. The smuggling operation was allegedly carried out in an "organized manner".

This is not the first time the IRGC Navy has taken action against fuel smugglers in the region. In January, the force also confiscated a foreign tanker carrying two million liters of contraband fuel.

The IRGC Navy has been vigilant in protecting the Persian Gulf's marine route and has successfully foiled several attacks on Iranian and foreign tankers in recent years. The force has demonstrated its capability to maintain security in the strategic region using cutting-edge technology and expertise.
