Iran leader calls for cooperation between parliament and new government

Iran's Leader, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, called for a "constructive interaction" between the newly-elected President Masoud Pezeshkian and the Iranian Parliament on Sunday.

Iran (IMNA) - In a meeting with Members of Parliament in Tehran, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei emphasized that the success of the new government is the success of all Iranians, and calls everyone to help President Pezeshkian fulfill his duties towards the country.

The Supreme Leader stressed that if the president is successful in managing the country's affairs, improving the economy, advancing foreign relations, and addressing cultural issues, then everyone will succeed. He also called on the parliament to give a vote of confidence to Pezeshkian's proposed cabinet as soon as possible, saying that this would be beneficial for the country.

Additionally, Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the importance of unity among government officials and lawmakers in dealing with key issues, warning that division could be exploited by those seeking to create discord. He also urged the parliament to take a strong stance on international issues, including the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza.

The Supreme Leader emphasized that Gaza remains a critical issue for the Muslim world, despite waning attention from some quarters. He condemned Israel's brutal treatment of Palestinians in Gaza, saying that the US and Israel are committing war crimes by bombing schools and hospitals. Ayatollah Khamenei called on Iranian lawmakers not to remain silent about Gaza, saying that the issue is just as important now as it was when Israel first launched its onslaught against the territory.
