Israel Steps Up Bombardment of Gaza Refugee Camps, Tanks Push Deeper into Rafah

Israeli forces have intensified their bombardment of Gaza Strip refugee camps, killing at least 16 people in Zawayda town, Bureij and Nuseirat camps, and Deir-Al-Balah city.

Iran (IMNA) - The strikes targeted the overcrowded city of Deir-Al-Balah, the last major urban center in Gaza not yet occupied by Israeli forces.

The bombardment also struck Gaza City in the north, killing over 10 people, including three children, at the Cairo School housing displaced people. In Rafah, Israeli tanks pushed deeper into the city and took position on a hilltop.

Palestinian health officials reported a total of 54 deaths in the past 24 hours, bringing the overall death toll since October to over 38,840. The Israeli regime has focused its attacks on refugee camps, with the deadliest being the raid on July 13 on the Mawasi camp, which killed 90 Palestinians.

The International Committee of the Red Cross has warned that the Israeli invasion has pushed its field hospital in Rafah to the brink of capacity, with over a million people seeking shelter in the city. The war has also decimated Gaza's water collection system, threatening water supplies and farm land.

According to Oxfam, Israel's blockade has reduced the amount of water available in Gaza by 94 percent, creating a deadly health crisis. The report also stated that Israel's destruction of water facilities and deliberate aid obstruction have reduced the amount of water available to 4.74 liters (1.25 gallons) per person per day, less than a third of the recommended minimum in emergency situations.
