Pakistan PM Shehbaz Sharif Phones Iran's President-elect, Stresses Stronger Ties

Pakistan's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a phone conversation with Iran's President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian on Monday, during which he congratulated Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on the successful presidential elections and the peaceful transfer of power.

Iran (IMNA) - Sharif highlighted the strong historical, religious, cultural, and traditional ties between Pakistan and Iran, emphasizing the importance of deepening bilateral relations between the two neighboring countries. He expressed Islamabad's eagerness to work closely with the new Iranian government to strengthen ties and promote cooperation in various sectors, including trade, energy, and regional security.

The Prime Minister also mentioned that the agreements reached during the visit of late President Ebrahim Raeisi to Pakistan had laid the groundwork for a mutually beneficial partnership between the two nations. Sharif wished Pezeshkian success during his presidency and looked forward to working together to take bilateral relations to new heights.

In response, Pezeshkian expressed his desire to further deepen relations between Pakistan and Iran, underscoring the importance of strengthening ties between the two brotherly nations.
