Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei Calls for High Voter Turnout in Upcoming Iranian Presidential Election

In a speech on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadir, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei advised the Iranian nation to actively participate in the upcoming presidential election on June 28.

Iran (IMNA) - Addressing thousands of Iranians from several provinces, Ayatollah Khamenei stated that a high voter turnout in the election would make Iran proud and help the country overcome its enemies. He described the election as a "test" for the Iranian nation, emphasizing that "elections are always a test, but now [they are] more [important] than ever."

The Leader expressed hope that the election would be a source of pride for Iranians through their "maximum participation" and the selection of "the most qualified" candidate. He asserted that one of the factors enabling the Islamic Republic to overcome its adversaries is the election process.

Ayatollah Khamenei advised the public to demonstrate a high voter turnout to silence the country's ill-wishers, noting that low participation has previously been used by enemies to criticize the Islamic establishment. He criticized politicians who believe in relying on world powers, stating that "the one who thinks that it is not possible to take steps without favors of the US, he will not manage [the country] well."

The Leader emphasized that the most qualified candidate is the person capable of tapping into domestic opportunities and capacities, including the country's young, educated generation. He highlighted that "the Islamic Republic has shown that it can advance without relying on foreigners and it has done so."
