Hamas Welcomes UN Security Council Resolution on Ceasefire Plan

The United Nations Security Council has adopted a resolution backing a plan aimed at bringing about a ceasefire in the Israeli regime's ongoing war against the Gaza Strip.

Iran (IMNA) - In response, Hamas, the Palestinian resistance movement, has welcomed the resolution's provisions, including a permanent ceasefire, complete withdrawal of Israeli forces, and prisoners' exchange.

The resolution, adopted by the 15-member council, also includes provisions for the reconstruction of Gaza, the return of displaced Palestinians to their homes, and the rejection of any demographic changes or reductions in the Gaza Strip. Additionally, it calls for the delivery of aid to the people of Gaza.

Hamas expressed its readiness to cooperate with mediators to engage in indirect negotiations on implementing these principles, which align with the demands of the Palestinian people and resistance.

The Israeli regime launched its war against Gaza in October in response to the Al-Aqsa Storm, a retaliatory operation by Gaza's resistance groups. The war has resulted in the deaths of over 37,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children. Egypt and Qatar have been mediating negotiations aimed at concluding a ceasefire agreement, with Hamas agreeing to previous truce proposals but the Israeli regime rejecting them.
