Iran (IMNA) - The sanctions, which were announced on Friday, target six Iranian individuals and three entities accused of transferring unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to Russia, allegedly undermining peace and security in the West Asia and Red Sea regions.
Kan'ani criticized the EU for its passive and ineffective response to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Palestine, stating that the bloc's actions are driven by its satisfaction of the Zionist regime and the United States rather than the interests of the EU and other nations. He emphasized that the Islamic Republic of Iran will continue to pursue its principled policies aimed at ensuring regional and international peace and security.
The EU's sanctions include an asset freeze and travel ban for those targeted, as well as a prohibition on providing funds or economic resources to or for the benefit of the listed individuals and entities. The sanctions specifically target Iran's Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani and Afshin Khajeh Fard, head of Iran's Aviation Industries Organization (IAIO).
In response, Kan'ani stated that Iran reserves its right to respond to the EU's "destructive approach." The move is seen as a significant escalation in the ongoing tensions between Iran and the EU, with both sides vowing to continue their respective policies.
