Iran's Acting Foreign Minister Affirms Commitment to Strengthening Neighboring Relations Following Tragic Loss

In a recent statement, Iran's acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani reiterated Tehran's dedication to enhancing ties with neighboring nations.

Iran (IMNA) - This affirmation came after a meeting with the Foreign Minister of Oman, Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, who visited Tehran to offer condolences for the untimely passing of Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

During the meeting, Bagheri Kani expressed gratitude for the solidarity shown by Oman, emphasizing the importance of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized that Iran's commitment to bolstering relationships with neighboring states remains unwavering.

The tragic incident that claimed the lives of President Raeisi, Foreign Minister Amir-Abdollahian, and several others occurred when their helicopter crashed in East Azarbaijan Province. The delegation was returning from a ceremony in which they had inaugurated a dam alongside Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.

In response to the loss, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei declared a 5-day mourning period in Iran, with millions of people across various cities participating in farewell ceremonies to honor the martyrs. The tragic event has not only led to expressions of grief but also serves as a reminder of the importance of diplomatic relations and solidarity in times of adversity.
