Iran (IMNA) - Bagheri Kani stressed that this policy, first introduced by the administration of late President Ebrahim Raeisi, has been consistently endorsed by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, as a key component of Iran's regional agenda. He highlighted the importance of détente with all neighbors, citing strategic rationality as the guiding principle behind this approach.
The interim foreign minister also praised the late foreign minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, for his deep understanding of Iran's foreign policy foundations, which are rooted in the viewpoints and guidelines of the Islamic Republic's founder, Imam Khomeini, and his successor, Ayatollah Khamenei. This understanding, Bagheri Kani argued, helps diplomats navigate international complexities effectively.
Noting the significant improvement in regional relations during Amir-Abdollahian's tenure, Bagheri Kani mentioned that only Bahrain currently lacks diplomatic ties with Iran. However, even Bahrain's King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifah has expressed interest in enhancing relations with Tehran. The recent visit of Bahraini Foreign Minister Abdullatif al-Zayani to Tehran to offer condolences on President Raeisi's passing underscores the positive trajectory of regional relations.
Bagheri Kani reiterated that Iran's foreign policy is shaped by a strategic rationale and operates within the framework set by the Supreme National Security Council and the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. He emphasized that while individual diplomats may bring different skills and approaches, the country's foreign policy compass remains unchanged. The caretaker administration, he assured, will fulfill its duties with strength, firmness, authority, and responsibility, echoing Ayatollah Khamenei's remarks.
