President Raeisi's Helicopter Makes Hard Landing in Northwestern Iran

Iran's Interior Minister, Ahmad Vahidi, has confirmed that a helicopter carrying President Ebrahim Raeisi experienced a hard landing in Jolfa, located in the northwestern Iranian province of East Azarbaijan.

Iran (IMNA) - The helicopter, transporting President Raeisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, East Azarbaijan Governor Malek Rahmati, and other passengers, encountered difficulties leading to the hard landing near Jolfa, a city bordering Azerbaijan.

The incident occurred at Dizmar forest, between Varzaqan and Jolfa. Rescue teams arrived an hour later to initiate search operations, with twenty teams deployed to the challenging area. Drone units are aiding in the emergency response. Fortunately, two other helicopters carrying ministers and officials reached their destination safely. President Raeisi was returning from an event to inaugurate a dam on the Aras River with Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.

Iranian Armed Forces Mobilized for Search and Rescue Operation Following Helicopter Accident**

In a swift response to a helicopter accident involving President Raeisi, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Baqeri has ordered the mobilization of all resources and capabilities of the Army, the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), and the Police Command to assist in the search and rescue operation. The 65th Airborne Special Forces Brigade, renowned for their expertise in jungle warfare, has been deployed near the accident site to aid in the operation.

Despite the unfortunate incident, two other helicopters carrying a number of ministers and officials safely reached their destination. President Raeisi was returning from a ceremony to inaugurate a dam on the Aras River with Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev when the accident occurred.
