Azeri President Emphasizes Strong Friendship with Iran at Dam Inauguration

President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan reaffirmed the unwavering bond between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan, highlighting the deep historical friendship between their nations.

Iran (IMNA) - Aliyev made these statements during the Inauguration ceremony of the Qiz-Qalasi Dam in the East Azarbaijan Province on Sunday, emphasizing the enduring camaraderie between Iran and Azerbaijan.

Strong Historical Ties and Collaborative Projects

"The friendship between the two countries has a long history, and our people have lived in the same place for centuries. Today, the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan are at the highest level," Aliyev stated, underscoring the longstanding connection between the two nations.

He further emphasized the significance of joint projects in transportation between Iran and Azerbaijan, noting their importance for both countries and the region. Aliyev expressed satisfaction with the progress of Iran-Azerbaijan relations, stating that they are on a positive trajectory.

North-South Corridor and Infrastructure Modernization

Aliyev highlighted the critical role of the North-South corridor in the region, emphasizing that with the modernization of railway infrastructure in Iran and Azerbaijan, this corridor will become a vital transport route globally.

During the ceremony, Aliyev announced the inauguration of the new Aghband bridge, a key component of the North-South corridor connecting the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan, further enhancing regional connectivity and cooperation.
