Millions Rally Worldwide on International Quds Day in Solidarity with Palestinians

Millions of people in Iran and around the globe gathered on International Quds Day, observed on the last Friday of Ramadan, to show support for Palestinians and denounce Israeli actions.

Iran (IMNA) - Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif, spokesperson of Iran's IRGC and head of the Intifada headquarters in Tehran, stated that over 2,000 locations in Iran hosted pro-Palestine demonstrations. In Tehran, attendees mourned the victims of an Israeli airstrike on the Iranian Embassy's consular section in Damascus. This year's rallies coincide with heightened Israeli attacks on Palestinians in Gaza and other regions, causing widespread destruction and displacement.

Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza as Death Toll Rises and Essential Services Blocked

Over 180 days into the conflict, the Gaza Strip has witnessed a devastating toll with at least 33,037 fatalities and 75,668 injuries, predominantly affecting women and children. Tel Aviv's actions of blocking water, food, and electricity have exacerbated the crisis, pushing the region into a state of emergency.

During a news briefing, Sharif emphasized the theme for this year's Quds Day march as "Quds Day, from al-Aqsa Storm to al-Ahrar (freedom seekers) Storm." Quds Day is an annual pro-Palestinian event occurring on the last Friday of Ramadan, symbolizing solidarity with Palestinians and opposition against Israel and Zionism. Originating in 1979 in Iran after the Islamic Revolution, it carries significant historical and political weight.
