Iran (IMNA) - Both diplomats discussed bilateral relations, regional and international developments, and ways to enhance cooperation in energy, transit, and transportation sectors. They also acknowledged the importance of managing water resources in their region and the need for continuous collaboration.
Amir-Abdollahian highlighted the Caspian Sea as an area for constructive cooperation among coastal countries, expressing Tehran's readiness to host the next Caspian Sea littoral states summit. He also criticized the military presence of some third parties in the Caspian Sea, stating it goes against the region's interests.
Meredow, in response, praised the positive bilateral relations and emphasized the importance of increasing economic cooperation in the Caspian Sea, enhancing bilateral exchanges, and addressing environmental risks to the sea. The two Foreign Ministers also agreed on fighting against terrorist groups in the region, addressing the threat of extremist groups, and cooperating on border waters.
