Iran Ranks Among Top 10 Countries in Satellite and Space Launch Vehicle Manufacturing

Iran's Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Issa Zarepour, has announced that the Islamic Republic has secured a place among the top 10 countries in satellite and space launch vehicle manufacturing.

Iran (IMNA) - In an interview with Iran's Al-Alam TV, Zarepour revealed that Iran possesses the infrastructure for launching satellite-carrying rockets into space and ground stations for receiving satellite data.

The minister highlighted significant achievements in Iran's space program since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, including the ability to launch satellites weighing up to 200 kg into orbit. Iran aims to send heavier satellites into space within the next five years, according to Zarepour.

In the past year, Iran has successfully placed its satellites in Low Earth orbit, at a distance of 450 to 2,000 km from Earth. The country plans to focus on developing communication and internet satellites for remote areas in the upcoming years. Despite relying on Russia for two out of 12 space launches in 1402 due to Moscow's advanced space technology, Iran is currently constructing the largest space base in West Asia in the southern part of the country, with the first phase set to be completed by next year.

Despite Western sanctions, Iran has made remarkable progress in its civilian space program, as demonstrated by the successful launch of the domestically-built Pars 1 research-sensing satellite in February.
