Iran(IMNA) - Javad Mashayekh, Deputy of the scientific department of knowledge-based economy development, highlighted that Iran previously relied heavily on purchasing airplane parts from foreign sources, a situation exacerbated by sanctions imposed on the country.
In response to the challenges posed by sanctions, Iranian knowledge-based companies endeavored to produce domestic car spare parts and enhance the repair and maintenance of aircraft engines. Mashayekh emphasized that this progress has enabled Iran to offer spare parts and maintenance services to countries facing similar sanctions, such as Russia, which sought assistance from Iranian specialists in light of aviation sector sanctions stemming from the Ukraine crisis.
The Deputy underscored that the collaboration between Iran's knowledge-based companies and sanctioned nations demonstrates the advanced capabilities of domestic companies, with empowered countries recognizing the expertise and seeking partnerships with Iranian entities.
Iran has reached a milestone in becoming self-sufficient in supplying airplane spare parts, eliminating the need to send aircraft abroad for repairs, an official informed Mehr News Agency.
