Yazd Hosts Two-Day ECO Summit as it Prepares to Become Tourism Capital of Asian Cooperation Dialogue Member Countries

In line with the selection of Yazd as the tourism capital of Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) member countries, the city is set to host numerous international conferences and events in the upcoming year. This designation comes after Yazd was awarded the title of tourism capital for 2024 during the international tourism exhibition in Tehran. The two-day ECO summit commenced on the 6th of March, and has brought together ambassadors of ACD member countries to Yazd.

Iran (IMNA) - The global city of Yazd is welcoming 55 foreign guests from 15 nationalities, marking the beginning of a series of events and conferences in the city. These events will be attended by high officials from the member countries of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue Forum. To celebrate the occasion, ambassadors of different countries will participate in tree planting activities at Yazd National Park.

Ahmed Akhundi, the special assistant to the governor of Yazd, has announced the preparation of a calendar of one-year programs aligned with Yazd's introduction as the tourism capital of ACD member countries. These programs aim to promote the development and progress of Yazd province in the field of tourism. The events will include three banquets with high officials of the city as well as visits to the city's prominent tourist attractions such as the Zarch World Aqueduct, Keshkno Mill, and the Garden of Nations.

Seyed Nasser Tabatabai, the executive secretary of the program and representative of the country's hoteliers, highlighted that Yazd is currently hosting 55 foreign guests from 15 countries, which are members of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue Forum (ACD), including ambassadors from Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Brunei, Thailand, and others. With 35 member countries in the ACD, Tabatabai considers the forum a good market with 60% of the world's population and a valuable strategic partner for the country.

The executive secretary of the tourism event emphasized that economic and tourism cooperation already exists with some ACD member countries and aims to showcase Yazd's rich history, vibrant culture, and the authenticity of its people to the foreign guests during these two days.

Yazd's Deputy Governor for Management and Resource Development, Mohammad Hossein Parsaian, added that the province focuses on carrying out activities in line with the "New Yazd" transformative document. The goal is to introduce Yazd to one billion people worldwide. Parsaian further stated that they hope to introduce the global city to four billion people through global events over the course of four years until 1404.

The Deputy Governor emphasized the goal of turning Yazd into the origin of cultural and tourism events, aiming to be the capital of national and international tourism events. To achieve this, continuous follow-ups were made, and the presence of the president during the handover of the plaque for Yazd's designation as the tourism capital was emphasized.

Despite capacity shortages and incomplete infrastructures in the province, Parsaian stressed the need to bring Yazd's infrastructure and services to international standards. By hosting such events, he explained that they must improve their infrastructure to ensure a decent and appropriate level of service for international events.

Yazd Chamber of Commerce Addresses the Need for Global Market Expansion in this Tourism Event

Mohammad Sepehar, the representative of Yazd Chamber of Commerce, emphasized the importance of exploring markets beyond the country's borders during the tourism event in Yazd. Given the economic conditions and the high volume of production in industries, mines, and agricultural units in the province, Sepehar highlighted the significance of targeting the 50% of the world's consumption market that is part of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue Forum (ACD).

In this event, Sepehar stressed to hold a special meeting with the Secretary General of the Assembly for Economic Cooperation to discuss opportunities for collaboration. The executive secretary of the Yazd Chamber of Commerce also announced that the organization will host guests on the second day of the event to consult and introduce the province's situation to businessmen and ambassadors of the attending countries.

This initiative aims to address and resolve any existing problems or cases with member countries of the ACD. Furthermore, the secretaries of specialized associations in various fields will examine the problems of their subcategories and raise issues as representatives.
