During his visit to Algeria to attend the 7th summit of the leaders of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF), Iranian President Raeisi highlighted the pressing need for unity and solidarity in the Islamic world. President Raeisi visited the Algerian Grand Mosque, where he engaged in discussions with the Imam of the mosque.

Iran (IMNA) - President Raeisi emphasized the role of mosques in fostering unity and solidarity among the Islamic Ummah. He stated that mosques should focus on enlightening people about pressing issues, such as the plight of oppressed Palestinian Muslims in Gaza, and promoting humanity worldwide. The President expressed gratitude for the shared position of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria on the Palestinian issue, questioning whether the Zionist regime would dare to commit such crimes against the oppressed Palestinians if there was a unified stance across the Muslim world.

Underscoring the significance of unity and solidarity, President Raeisi highlighted the historical role of Algerian mosques in mobilizing popular forces during the colonial period. He also referenced Imam Khomeini (RA), the founder of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, who considered mosques as strongholds in the fight against deviation and oppression, utilizing their immense capacity to advance the divine goals of the revolution.

President Raeisi further emphasized Iran's readiness to enhance cultural relations with Algeria, with a specific focus on mosques as platforms for knowledge, science, and the promotion of unity and solidarity within the Islamic world. The Imam of the Grand Mosque of Algeria praised the courageous and historic positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran on the Palestinian issue, expressing hope that other Islamic countries would follow suit in taking similar steps.
