Baghdad Seeks Gas Deals with Turkmenistan to Meet Electricity Demand; Iran Remains Iraq's Fourth Commercial Partner

Hamid Hosseini highlighted Baghdad's efforts to secure gas transit and swap agreements with Turkmenistan. These deals aim to address the pressing gas requirements in Iraq, particularly for generating over 4,500 megawatts of electricity.

Hosseini, a prominent businessman, emphasized that Iran stands as Iraq's fourth-largest commercial partner, following the UAE, China, and Turkiye. He further suggested that if the Central Bank of Iran exempts agricultural products, technical services, and engineering services from special export duties, it could significantly boost the export volume from Iran to Iraq.
