IRGC Retaliates with Missile Strike on US-Run Ain al-Asad Base in Iraq, Inflicting "Traumatic Brain Injuries" on Over 100 Troops

In a retaliatory move for the assassination, on January 8, 2020, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a wave of missiles targeting the US-operated Ain al-Asad base in Iraq's western province of Anbar. The Pentagon has reported that more than 100 American troops suffered from "traumatic brain injuries" during the counterstrike. However, the IRGC has accused Washington of using this term to downplay the actual number of American casualties caused by the strikes. Iran has declared that the missile attack on Ain al-Asad was just the initial response, implying that further actions may follow.
