Iran Joins BRICS in Efforts to De-Dollarize Trade and Financial Transactions

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani has announced that Iran will collaborate with other BRICS member countries to promote the de-dollarization of trade, economic, and financial transactions.

Iran (IMNA) - Bagheri Kani emphasized the importance of this task and revealed that several initiatives are already underway within the framework of the organization. The goal is to reduce dependence on the US dollar and enhance financial cooperation among BRICS nations.

Iran Plans to Expand Activities in the BRICS bloc as Full Membership Approaches

In a recent statement, a senior Iranian diplomat revealed that Iran has already initiated activities within the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) bloc and aims to further strengthen and expand these endeavors. The diplomat expressed the country's intention to achieve this goal as quickly as possible.

Established in 2009, BRICS serves as an alliance of the world's largest developing economies. Currently comprised of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, the bloc recently extended invitations to Argentina, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia during the 15th top-level BRICS summit held in Johannesburg last August. While their full membership, with the exception of Argentina, is set to take effect on January 1, 2024.
