United Nations Strongly Condemns Terrorist Attack on Iranian Police Headquarters

In a statement released on Friday, the United Nations strongly denounced a vicious terrorist assault on Rask County's police headquarters in the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Balouchestan.

Iran (IMNA) - The attack, claimed by the group "Jaish al-Adl," resulted in at least 11 casualties. Stephane Dujarric, a spokesman for the UN secretary-general, emphasized the importance of bringing the perpetrators to justice. He expressed the UN's deep condolences to the bereaved families, as well as to the people and government of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while also wishing a speedy recovery for the injured.

In a recent incident, Alireza Marhamati, the deputy governor responsible for security and political affairs in Sistan and Baluchestan Province, reported that a terrorist attack took place at approximately 2:00 a.m. local time on Friday (2230 GMT Thursday). The targeted location was the headquarters of Rask Police. Tragically, the attack resulted in the loss of 11 police officers and conscripts. Marhamati further revealed that some of the injured individuals are currently in critical condition. The responsibility for this heinous act has been claimed by the Pakistan-based extremist group known as Jaish-ul-Adl.

Majid Mirahmadi, deputy interior minister for security and police affairs, provided details on a terrorist attack that occurred in Sistan and Baluchestan Province. According to Mirahmadi, the assailants launched the attack on a police post, employing multiple directions of assault. Subsequently, they ambushed reinforcements sent to the scene.

Mirahmadi revealed that during the hours-long clashes, two terrorists were neutralized, while one was apprehended after sustaining injuries. The remaining perpetrators managed to evade capture.

Additionally, Mirahmadi reported that six members of the police forces sustained injuries during the exchange of fire.

Prior to this, Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeid Iravani, urged UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and rotating President of the Security Council José de la Gasca to condemn this act of terrorism.
