Iran (IMNA)- During the visit, urgent efforts to halt the Israeli regime's bombing campaigns in Gaza, alleviate the blockade on the region, provide humanitarian aid to war-stricken Palestinians, and support the restoration of their inherent rights will feature prominently in discussions. Raeisi highlighted that Iranian authorities have engaged in talks with high-ranking officials from various nations to address the Palestinian issue and condemn Israel's ongoing onslaught on Gaza, which will continue during the visit to Moscow.
In a recent development, Israel has initiated a series of air and ground attacks on the coastal territory. These attacks, which have targeted hospitals, residences, and houses of worship, were in response to a surprise attack carried out by Palestinian resistance movements known as Operation al-Aqsa Storm on October 7. As a result, the Israeli regime has implemented a complete blockade on Gaza, severely limiting access to essential resources such as food, water, and medicine.
Tragically, the ongoing conflict has led to a significant loss of life. Since the beginning of the war, an estimated 16,248 Palestinians, including 7,112 children and 4,885 women, have been killed. Additionally, more than 43,616 individuals have sustained injuries as a result of the relentless air and ground attacks.
On a different note, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi has expressed his intentions to strengthen various aspects of cooperation between Iran and Russia. During his visit, which was extended as an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin, Raisi aims to foster political, economic, trade, cultural, and knowledge-based ties between the two nations.
Iranian President-elect Ebrahim Raisi emphasized the shared commitment of Iran and Russia to fostering peace and stability in the region. He highlighted their joint efforts in influencing both regional and international developments, particularly in combatting unilateralism. Raisi also noted that Tehran-Moscow ties, as well as relations with regional and allied states, have been bolstered by the establishment of platforms such as the Eurasian Economic Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Council, and the BRICS group of emerging economies.
