In a significant development for Iran's Armed Forces, the country's highest-ranking military commander, Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Baqeri, announced the joining of a new domestically-designed and manufactured destroyer, named Deylaman, to the northern naval fleet. The ceremony took place in the port city of Bandar Anzali on Monday.

Iran (IMNA) - During the ceremony, Major General Baqeri emphasized the crucial role of readiness and preparedness in ensuring Iran's deterrent power and sustainable security. He highlighted the Iranian Navy's leading role in strengthening the country's defense capabilities against potential adversaries.

Describing the Deylaman destroyer as a "masterpiece in naval history," Baqeri emphasized its significance in promoting peace and friendship with neighboring countries, particularly those in the Caspian Sea region. He underlined that Iran maintains amicable military relations with all the littoral states of the Caspian Sea, emphasizing the Navy's commitment to fostering friendly ties.

The event was attended by other high-ranking military officials, including Chief Commander of the Army Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi and Navy Commander Rear Admiral Shahram Irani.

The Deylaman destroyer, the fifth in the Mowj class of Jamaran destroyers, is equipped with advanced domestically-manufactured defense systems and equipment. Its capabilities include long-duration navigation, search and detection of threats, monitoring, and the ability to confront and repel air, surface, and subsurface threats. Additionally, it has the capacity to carry helicopters on its deck.

The joining of the Deylaman destroyer to Iran's naval fleet marks a significant step towards enhancing the country's maritime security and reinforcing its deterrent power in the Caspian Sea region.

During his address, General Baqeri praised the impressive capabilities of Iran's Navy and highlighted the significant achievement of manufacturing the Deylaman destroyer under the challenging circumstances of Western sanctions. He emphasized that for the past 45 years, the Iranian Armed Forces have endured sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies.

General Baqeri pointed out that Iran has faced particularly severe sanctions in recent years. However, the successful production of the Deylaman destroyer by Iranian scientists and artisans reflects the country's determination for development and progress, instilling hope for the future.

He further stated that the inclusion of the destroyer will enhance security in Iran's northern regions and promote enhanced cooperation with neighboring armies. General Baqeri attributed this accomplishment not only to state-of-the-art equipment but also to the dedicated, intelligent, and loyal workforce that plays a crucial role in defending the nation.

Iran's Navy has achieved self-sufficiency in manufacturing both surface and sub-surface vessels in recent years. Additionally, it has expanded its presence in international waters to safeguard naval routes and ensure the security of merchant vessels and tankers.
