Children's Literature Activists Condemn Israel's Oppression of Palestinian Children in Gaza

In a powerful statement published on Wednesday, a group of children's literature activists has passionately expressed their condemnation of the oppressive regime and its crimes against the Palestinian people. Particularly, they shed light on the dire situation faced by the children of Gaza who have endured years of trauma, devoid of laughter and filled with sadness, pain, and loss.

Iran (IMNA) - The signatories, which include writers, poets, artists, and activists in the field of children's literature and art, fervently pray for the liberation of Palestine and the well-being of all children worldwide. They emphasize the heartbreaking reality that Palestinian children are forced to abandon their dreams and grow up amidst an unequal war, where they have tragically lost everything dear to them.

The statement boldly exposes the true nature of the usurping regime of Israel, revealing its ugly and demonic face to the world. It highlights how Palestinian children have been robbed of their childhoods, becoming young adults too soon as they stand alongside their parents and grandparents in the midst of a fiery conflict. Their faces have long been devoid of genuine laughter, burdened instead by the dust of pain, suffering, and grief caused by constant loss.

As passionate activists in the realms of culture, art, and literature for children and young adults, they join hands with the proud people of Iran to vehemently condemn the recent crimes committed by the corrupt and savage Israeli regime, particularly in the bloodshed of Gaza's oppressed and justice-seeking population.

October 7, Hamas launched Operation Al-Aqsa Storm in response to the Israeli regime's increasing atrocities against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. As a result, Israel has been conducting airstrikes on Gaza.

Disturbing reports indicate that the Israeli air strikes have claimed the lives of over 10,000 Palestinians, including 4,800 children, in the Gaza Strip since October 7. This dire situation has prompted UNICEF to declare a catastrophic state for children and families in Gaza.

Tragically, thousands of children have been killed, and many more have been injured. The hostilities have severed access to vital resources such as water, food, fuel, medicine, and even safe passage to hospitals for children and families in Gaza.

In light of this crisis, UNICEF urgently appeals for an immediate humanitarian ceasefire and unrestricted access to humanitarian aid. These measures are crucial to providing assistance to children and families in need, saving lives, and preventing further suffering.

It is essential to recognize that the consequences of escalating violence will reverberate for generations to come, inflicting untold hardships on children and their communities. The current alarming death toll and the denial of basic rights to children underscore the urgent need to protect civilians, especially children, and take every possible action to spare them from harm under all circumstances.
